The full-cycle (CKD, Complete Knock Down) production means that the plant receives the components of the future model, which go through the process of welding, double priming, painting, anti-corrosion treatment with hot wax and Volkswagen’s special mixture. The final assembly of the model involves the installation of an engine, gearbox, glasses, seats and a number of other operations. The engine plant in Kaluga producing 1.6 MPI engines for locally assembled ŠKODA and Volkswagen models has been being in operation since 2015. Apart from the renewed ŠKODA RAPID, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Tiguan are being produced at the same site.

The second facility producing ŠKODA cars in Russia is placed in Nizhny Novgorod at the GAZ Group plant. In December 2012 full-cycle production of the ŠKODA YETI started here and in June 2013 the first OCTAVIAs built left the plant’s conveyor belt. Since March 2017, ŠKODA produces here the new OCTAVIA, which opens a new page in the brand’s history. The Volkswagen Jetta is being assembled at this plant since March 2013.
