Marek Smykal to head the production site of Volkswagen Group Rus in Nizhny Novgorod
Marek Smykal (45) has been appointed Head of the Volkswagen Group Rus production site in Nizhny Novgorod, effective March 1, 2017. He replaces Dr. Florian Reiter in this position.
Marek Smykal graduated from the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and started his career in 1996 as a trainee at ŠKODA AUTO in Mlada Boleslav. In 1997, he became assistant to the Head of Logistics, where he worked for 3 years. Then he took up the position of planning department specialist in the press shop, and in 2002 he accepted a position as press shop coordinator.
At the end of 2004, Mr. Smykal was appointed Head of the Department of Design and Manufacture of Automatic Welding Lines at the ŠKODA AUTO plant.
In 2008, Mr. Smykal also led an Audi AG project in Ingolstadt, and in 2009 he became head of the ŠKODA AUTO stamping production plant in Mlada Boleslav.
The Volkswagen Group Rus production site in Nizhny Novgorod was launched in 2011. The ŠKODA Yeti, Volkswagen Jetta and ŠKODA Octavia models are produced at the site.
